SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI — Childhood fun for Kate Lord Schnepf meant time spent with her little sister, filming makeshift movies and fake infomercials using the webcam on her father's laptop in the basement of their Saginaw Township house. Two decades later, Schnepf is all grown up — she's 26 now — and the cameras she wields as a Los Angeles-based filmmaker are Hollywood-caliber equipment. The joy she feels shaping her vision into movies from behind a lens, though, hasn't changed from those younger years.
