Contributed Photo / Mary Ann Deschaine has been hired as the new superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Knoxville. KNOXVILLE — Mary Ann Deschaine, a veteran educator with nearly three decades of experience as a teacher, principal and, most recently, as superintendent of Catholic schools in a West Virginia diocese, has accepted the position of superintendent of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Knoxville. Deschaine is set to begin in late July, according to a news release. Prior to her time as superintendent of schools in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia, Deschaine was superintendent of Catholic schools in Michigan's Diocese of Saginaw from 2011-18.
